Deacons In Training:  

The officers of the Deacon’s Ministry are men and women that are zealous to guard the unity of the spirit within the church in the bonds of peace. They serve as counsel to advise and conference with the Pastor in all matters pertaining to the welfare and work of the church. With the Pastor, they are to consider and formulate plans for the constant effort and progress of the church in all things pertaining to the saving of souls, the developing of Christians, and the extension and growth of the Kingdom of God.

The ministry promotes harmony among and encourages support from the congregation. The spiritual growth of the overall membership is a priority. Sick and shut-in visitations, ongoing membership interaction, baptismal arrangements, and communion service are some of the responsibilities conducted by the Deacons.

The Deaconess Ministry is a ministry made up primarily of deacon's wives and/or widows of deacons. This ministry is a support group for the pastor, deacons, and church at large.  The ministry's major responsibility is to assist in the spiritual matters of the church.

The goal of the Deaconess Ministry is to assist the pastor and deacons in stimulating and nurturing the spiritual growth of the congregation, according to Titus 2:3-5, this group of women has a great priority to guide, teach, and develop the younger women.  The ministry also has the mandate to hold a high standard of spiritual life and living according to I Timothy 3:11. 

The ministry is based on 2 Tim 2:15, to establish the people of God in the Word of God…to keep you moving forward in your relationship we have prepared a wonderful spiritual variety…so come and be fed God's Word!

The Choir President or Vice-President conducts choir meetings, makes sure the choir directory is updated, serves as the choir's spokesperson to the rest of the church, and supervises all committees and other leadership roles within the choir.  A choir president is not the same role as that of the Minister of Music who is typically in charge of the musical direction of the choir.

The Hospitality Ministry greets and creates an atmosphere of love and fellowship for those that enter with a friendly welcome.

The Men’s Ministry is a committed group of men dedicated to the spiritual uplifting of the members of Greater Works Baptist Church.  Men who are willing servants and ambassadors that help the community in times of need.  Men that embrace our Youth and are role models that set the example for the next generation following in our footsteps.

The Mother’s Ministry is a group of women with knowledge and wisdom in both natural and spiritual matters. They are an example of faithful, devoted, and committed Christians.

The Music Ministry is responsible for providing praise and worship through music and song.

The Music Ministry consists of:

•       The Youth Choir

•       GWBC Dance Ministry

The New Members Ministry gives support to all new members who join our Church family.  Under the direction of the Pastors, classes are offered to familiarize new members with the history, structure, organization, responsibilities, and beliefs of the church.

The Nurses Guild Ministry provides medical assistance during church service activities.  The outreach goal of the nurse’s guild is to educate the church and community on health-related issues.  The Guild sponsors Health Fairs and distributes health information.

The Women’s Ministry consists of Christian women who support the church and the community through prayer and service.

The Youth Ministry focuses on building Christian character and leadership.  The Youth are taught valuable life lessons and take part in all aspects of the Church services.

This is part of the Usher Ministry’s spirited outreach effort to win souls for God. To meet, greet, and seat GWBC’s visitors and members so that they feel welcomed and comfortable when they enter the doors of the Church.
